Is Obamacare Similar to the T-4 Program?

Image
Between Facebook and Twitter (mostly Facebook), this government shutdown is really shutting down many friendships online. Here's my belief: nobody knows anything about what one party is doing and the other's not. They can go on and on about how Obamacare is affordable, while the other one can go on about how expensive the coinsurance and out of pocket deductibles are. On top of that, it's been said on the news that if we don't opt for the insurance, we'll then get fined for it. Everything is debatable. My question is: if the insurance is good enough for us, then why isn't Obama and his family going on it? But that could be a good explanation of some sort of private insurance the POTUS receives. I don't know enough about that. I'm not even sure if Obama handed in his birth certificate. Did he? Who cares, right? And if you've been reading me for some time, you know I have those "tin foil hat" conspiracy theories of mine and that I can be a ...

Dear President Obama

Image
“There are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me. There are very few African-American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me — at least before I was a senator. There are very few African Americans who haven’t had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.” -- Barack Obama The two gay men who were brutally beaten in NYC. Dear President, Thank you for your heartfelt speech poured out to everyone in the United States watching mainstream media. My heart truly goes out to what you have been through, to what many "African Americans" have been through, and of course, still go through. Your struggles as a child is one that many can relate to,...

Exorcising the Demons

Image
People amaze me sometimes. I cannot believe there are people still spewing hateful crap on the internet over the election. It's over. Done with. Finite. Move on. As you all know, I was a bit on the fence, doing research on both the candidates. Many of my readers and friends had piped in with their views and thoughts about why they're voting for who they were, and it definitely made a difference. But honestly? You know what pushed me over the edge to vote for Obama? The hateful right wing "Christians" who were bashing anyone and everyone who would dare disagree with them. I am so happy I didn't vote for Romney just because of his following. I can't even tell you how many times I have seen "Christians" call each other such hateful names -- filled with curses and racial slurs, and as you've seen through my experience, bigotry toward homosexuals.  In fact, I'll take it a step further. I can actually understand why so many people who do love God...

Gina Hoppis Stated That All Americans Think Gays & Lesbians Are Disgusting

Image
This entire argument started over this post of Obama.  Yesterday afternoon, while being trapped inside the house going stir crazy because of the Sandy aftermath, I found myself scrolling through Facebook and came across a post a friend had commented on. It was a photo of Obama that said, "WANTED: FOR MURDER!" I had to read  why my friend was commenting on this. As I scrolled down to the comment section, I saw the poster, Jan Watts (who bragged over working for the largest radio enterprise in all of USA, a radio announcer, lifestyle editor and even had her own local TV show but who only has 200 Facebook fans) say, "DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS MAN!!" Then I saw my friend agreeing with a gentleman who had said, "I am not a Democrat, but posting such messages like this is disgusting. Any President would have had a terrible time in this economy. And, by the way-the economy has added a ton of jobs in the last three months. It will take time for our country to dig it...

I'm Voting

Image
Our good friend Jill had posted something very heartfelt concerning her political views on Facebook. There was a big difference compared to everybody else's though: I have never seen such a personal and touching stance on politics---ever. I have never been convinced that either presidential candidate would ever change the way society truly feels about marriage equality, which is why I was so undecided about who to choose. I also don't rely on my lifestyle and personal life to dictate who I will vote for. I usually vote for who is best for the economy (in my opinion and from learning through others) which ultimately affects all of us,   and who will protect our country. I've been so undecided for so long, until now. I haven't had anyone truly make a dent with their side of the coin on swaying me to either side. They've all made great points and while I nodded my heads a few times, there wasn't anything so inspiring, so loving and so so personal as this one....

Political Rants on Facebook

Image
It's crazy how politics and religion can really make a difference in either developing friendships or ruining them. As they say, the worst thing to talk about with friends or new acquaintances is . . . and still, people do it. People challenge others to see where their political hats lie. It's personal. It's not something you can try to persuade someone else into seeing it your way because they have strong convictions about 'this' and 'that', while yours may be completely different. On Facebook, I'm surprised at how many people are so adamant about posting their strong political views --- even slapping the other 'party' in the face, which happens to be their own friends. Here's where it gets tricky... Okay, so it's a wonderful thing that you love your country and you want others to see how rotten 'the other guy' is. But if you really take a moment to step back, look at your Facebook wall --- aren't you only doing one thing, ...

Shut the Front Door!

Image
The other day while I was in the grocery store, I overheard two men debating over politics and the opinions over the republican candidates. Of course, it got heated because one was for Mitt Romney and the other for Obama. Arguing over politics is the same thing as arguing over religion and “set rules”, etc. No one wins and the thing is, even though you preach a good spiel about your thoughts, opinions and whatnot, you’re not doing anything but invoking anger in those who disagree, or simply do not believe. Of course, I do feel that if you share your beliefs and opinions with someone you ‘think’ is okay hearing it, then fine. I often see people bait others in just to attack their views. It’s pointless and childish. So this argument got heated and it almost came to blows. The funny thing is, after someone is finally elected, the arguments get less and less and no one says boo about anything regarding politics until election time or when someone makes a huge moral mistake in office. I tru...

The Race Card

Image
While sipping my coffee before work, I was scanning down my Facebook feed seeing what my friends were up. It was then I saw a note that was shared by my friend & comedienne, Mimi Gonzalez, written by a lady named, Ife Franklin. It was a heartfelt letter written to Bay Windows and being sent to the Governor of MA and the Boston Globe regarding men hitting on she and her wife in Provincetown, MA. As I continued to read it, it started to become much clearer that this woman was not just ranting about black men hitting on her, but she was ranting about the lack of care by "the white folks" who hire them and who have "the power to fire them". I'll just copy and paste her note first, and then my long comment afterwards. I apologize for such a long blog post, but I had to speak up. Feel free to leave your honest thoughts about this - even if you highly disagree with me. I understand she has a very unfortunate, traumatic past with rape and harassment, but this went...

Is Osama bin Laden Dead?

Image
As much as I hate to talk about politics, I have to say that I am so sick and tired of hearing people insisting that Barack Obama is lying about bin Laden’s death. “It’s all for his approval ratings” -- and then the conspiracy theory thugs who say it was all about the election drawing nearer. And as you’ve probably read through my blog posts and tweets, I’m not a huge fan of Obama, but more and more republicans are making themselves look like complete assholes, ie: Donald Trump. I get it. We were leery and didn’t trust many things about Obama’s mission, promises, “changes” and yes, agenda. Now I’m questioning: have we taken it too far? How many more times do we have to make complete fools of ourselves in order to see that Obama may not be all that bad? And, that question also goes for my friends who hold similar views as I do. It didn’t occur to me how bad of a rap Obama got, until it went a little too far. Now that he has done the ultimate “impossible mission” of killing Osama bin L...

When It Hits Home...

Image
Lately, I haven’t written anything so much as a Tweet in the last week or so. I think I caught the ‘absorb the madness’ bug from one of my favorite bloggers, Enemy of the Republic .  And mind you, not so much that it is a bad thing, however I am finding myself absorbing the craziness of the world. I’ve been fixated on the media, watching stories unfold of the injustice of Iran’s elections and the brutality, bloodshed and horrific Youtube videos and Twitter updates of the massacres that are going on. A young woman who was protesting was shot in the chest. She was identified as, Neda Aghan Soltan, to be made an example of the horrific killings that are going on. The video is even too graphic and more so, sad to even display on my blog. I’m just giving acknowledgment and a link if you want to watch the video. It is very disturbing to watch, so I warn you. While Neda was shot in the heart, a man was kneeling next to her crying out in Farsi, “My Neda, don’t be afraid, please don’t ...

Barack Obama Terrorizes New York?

Image
Yes, you are forgiven Obama. But what was he thinking? He allowed a 747 from the presidential fleet, An Air Force One backup plane and fighter jet to fly very low over in New York. It was a poorly judged photo op that we, the people got taxed for. When I saw the video footage on the news where the people of New York started running and screaming, my heart sunk. It almost made me cry to see they had to feel that terror once again. So, my title fits, Obama is a terrorist. He instilled fear for New Yorkers, once again.   Definition of "terrorist": a person who terrorizes or frightens others.  Even Mayor Bloomberg is outraged and cannot believe he wasn't notified of what they were doing so that no panic would set in. How could anyone in their right mind think that this was ok? In my personal opinion, it’s those who live in others states that really don’t “get it”.  They feel and know that 9/11 was a horrible tragedy, but those who weren’t there, living in anoth...

"Miss Bisexual" Voted Yes for Prop 8

Image
If you live the ‘straight life’ and feel as though your vote for California’s Proposition 8 was due to your values, beliefs and what you stand by in your own personal life—then fine. But if you’re a person who seeks to have sexual relationships with the same gender for yourself just for ‘fun’, and yet you’re out there voting for Prop 8—then you’re a hypocrite in my opinion. Remember the woman I was telling you about in my previous post, who voted for Obama for no other reason other than the color of his skin? In her own words: “THIS IS A STRAIGHT MIRACLE. A BLACK PRESIDENT???? We couldn't even walk on the sidewalk only the whites could for a long time, drink out the same water fountain, use the same bathroom. America had us acting like we were contaminated with a disease. Who can hold back tears???? Jesse Jackson watched his boy MLK get shot in front of his eyes, he even ran for President and even all the blacks told him IT WASN'T POSSIBLE. Well not ALL but the VAST MAJORITY. ...

Can I Say That?

Image
Race has been a huge factor for Obama’s campaign for many who have voted for him and those who have not. Not all. Most. No doubt- this was an extraordinary historical event. America made history! There were enough tears to fill up Lake Placid from the joy and relief that African-Americans felt when they heard that it was the first black president in history. Jesse Jackson was so overwhelmed; he stood there with tears streaming down his face and his lips quivering---totally in shock and thanking the good Lord above for this glorious night in history. Was it because he is a qualified candidate who holds a lot of experience and will better our economy? Or was it because it was the first African-American president in history? Why were they crying? Can I say that? I read somewhere that even if you call Obama “eloquent”, that it’s a racist remark. Do we have to tiptoe through the bigot detectors in order to talk about our new leader? Here’s my problem, or not: it’s always a good thing to lea...

A Political Debate In My Living Room...Come In!

This debate may have helped me make a choice of who I'm going to vote for, however the help that I have received from my readers was so incredibly amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your views with me on my previous post and being so upfront and honest with me regarding your political choices as an American. You guys rock! Now, I invite you into my living room for a heated political discussion. I kind of kept out of it, only because I wanted to learn more from my friends. The only parts of this video you will see of me are of the foolish scenes. Pardon the martini overload on my part. I kept 'hush hush' ---or tried to.

In the Gray Area

Image
With Election Day approaching and my mind spinning between political debates and distasteful commercials that each candidate sets forth upon one another, I’m more confused than ever. I thought by now that I would come to a clearer decision of who I would be voting for, but unfortunately it just gets worse and worse and just more confusing. Some say choose the lesser of the evils and others tell me their passionate opinion regarding ‘their guy’. I’ve been researching, reading and finding things on Youtube (politically and not sifting through personal videos by civilians), and found something that almost made my decision lean more toward one candidate. It may seem idiotic that my vote could have been swayed one way due to the answer Obama gave to Pastor Rick Warren, on the question: “What was your biggest moral failure?” “I had a difficult youth. My father wasn’t in the house,” the presumptive Democratic nominee answered. “There were times where I experimented with drugs. I drank, you kn...

Political Chest Pains

Image
Yesterday was quite a day. The morning started out ok: had breakfast with my partner, cleaned the house, did some work and right after a phone conversation with a friend, I started to get severe chest pains. I’ve had many types of chest pains before- but this one was different. This started from my chest and made a beeline all the way down to my hands. Every jolt traumatized me. I finally collapsed and thought I should call 911, but instead I called Madelene. The last time I called 911, they charged me $500 for a ride down the road. No thanks. Madelene picked me up and we drove 10 mph to the hospital. I love Madelene dearly, but the woman drives like an old bitty. It’s her heart that counts, right? Or is it mine??? Anyway, we’re slowly making our way into purgatory, or I should say, the ER when she comes up with this question: "Do you think it's gas?" This isn’t going to look too good because now I’m getting irritated by her questions. Surprisingly, they rushed me in rig...
