Jail for Jesus: Kim Davis Fueled Up a Full Tank of Anger in Many Christians

Trust me, never be mean to a waitress. Your food will taste umm, different. A few months ago, I took my friend out to my favorite lunch spot. We sat down, ordered a couple of glasses of wine and some lunch. When the waitress came over, my friend's entire demeanor changed as though someone upset her. "This wine is just terrible! It tastes like vinegar and you probably had it out all night. Bring me something that wasn't opened. You may be able to fool some customers, but not me, lady...not me." The waitress headed off to the bar and quickly returned with a fresh glass of wine, to which again, tasted like "vinegar", but she'll "suck it up anyway" as she stated. Nothing annoys me more than being rude to somebody who had nothing to do with what you are upset over. Yes, she is the "face" of the restaurant -- your representative for the bar and kitchen, but being rude to someone who is serving you is just wrong and so out of line. W...

Freedom of Speech: Respect My Beliefs & I'll Respect Yours

Image
In my previous post which I put up on my Facebook page got a lot of hits regarding this topic. One lady by the name of Christina Mercer Acors decided to leave a comment. She first stated, "As you expect to be respected…respect our beliefs also." Then she went on to say, "Why should someone be surprised at a Christian's opinions? It's just a matter of the government and the media cowering to a select group." Here's my thoughts on that… Freedom of speech is a beautiful thing. We can say what we feel, we can say what we believe and not be penalized for it to some degree. But when does it come to the point where our beliefs and opinions, and yes, our "freedom of speech" causes violent behavior towards a certain group or have rights taken away from people who just want to have equality? Your beliefs are your own, but once you throw your cherry picked scriptures and cast them out with your vile opinions, making others feel horrible about them...

Do Opposites Attract?

Life is strange. Relationships are strange. We're strange in our own little ways. Bundled together and shared together, it becomes a 'thought to be' predictable venture, sometimes ending up to find out you were strangers all along, whether together for a year or for twenty. Change is good. Evolving from "one person" to "this person" is okay. When it involves someone else who is changing in a different direction, it might sever the ties that bind that particular relationship. Some people never leave a relationship that has taken two different paths because well, "they've invested so much into it" or "they have a history together". When it involves kids, it becomes more about being selfless or selfish . Whose happiness are you sacrificing besides your own? But, we all want to be happy. We all want that "perfect relationship" and I'm here to say there is no such animal. You either have to accept the imperfection...

Don't Like Gay Marriages? Don't Get One...

There is a big difference between "like" and "agree". For instance, I had a woman on my Facebook account write a quote from Rick Warren that stated, "Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone's lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don't have to compromise convictions to be compassionate."  This is just like saying, if you "disagree" with blacks intermarrying with whites. It's not a matter of "agreeing" --- if you don't like something --- don't pipe in on what others prefer to do or how they want to live. It's none of your business to agree or not to agree. You can dislike it all you want. But what about disliking the Kardasian's wedding, Tiger Woods or Newt Gringrich's lifestyle? Just because all were straight - then yes - they're all accep...
