Are You a Good Person Only Because You Feel Like God is Watching Your Every Move?

Image
There are so many beliefs and non-beliefs out there in this world. Some pray to Jesus, some pray to Allah, some lean toward Buddhism while others simply have no one to pray to at all. Have you ever had the chance to speak to an atheist before -- I mean, an "active" atheist who pursues it like a religion? I've come across quite a few and had a less than desirable experience with them, only because they would say things like, I wasn't intelligent enough to realize that my God is just a big fairytale. I get it, but the insults just kept trickling in. One gentleman happened to be a former priest. To me, for someone to actively pursue a role in atheism tells me that there is still some small percentage of "what if" -- perhaps, "What if I'm wrong" type of questioning. To me, that's a very scary place to be in. But then, years later, I met (not in person) a writer named, Emily on Periscope who does these brilliant broadcasts all about atheism. I...

Anger Management for Atheists

Image
Recently, I was talking to someone about a previous article I had posted regarding how angry atheists become while trying to instill some sort of logic in these "numb-minded spiritual Christians". "There is no god, we have proof," and "There is no god, you don't have proof!" And so, the battle continues. Such passionate nonbelievers trying to educate the best they can so that Christians can see for themselves that their faith is just one big fairytale. For me, if something didn't exist and I knew it for a fact while others were worshipping it --- I'd laugh and then chuck it up to insanity. "Leave em' praying to an imaginary friend." End of story. But this goes deeper. These atheists are infuriated by our beliefs. Why get so angry over something that (to you) is nonexistent? Would you tell a psyche ward patient that they're not seeing the little green men in the corner? Would you try explaining the logic to them? You can...

Why Do Atheists Get Angry at Christians for Believing, if They Don't Believe in Anything at All?

Image
The other night, I was chitchatting with a girlfriend of mine who lives out on the West Coast. It was 9pm for her, and way too late for me, but we got into various topics, one of which triggered this post for today. Without thinking about it, my friend chimed in, "You're gonna write about this arenchya'?"  I've touched upon this topic once before, and ever since realizing how common this is, I have to again come back to this topic. Atheism. Seems harmless. Atheism: the doctrine or belief that there is no god.  How can anyone have a "religious" debate if one person doesn't even believe in God? I never even thought about this years ago until I met someone with such passion for proving the nonexistence of God, that he basically bit every believer's head off. To top it off, this used to be a man of the cloth. Right there, you have to wonder, what happened? Then months down the road, I came across someone else who was an atheist. She basic...

The Messy Christian

Image
For the longest time I have hesitated to attend any type of church services. I’ve always said, “My relationship is with God and I can pray anywhere” - and I still stand by that statement, however lately I feel more of a pull - more of a need to be around more Christians, even if they disagree with my lifestyle. For one, I don’t have to say a word. I prefer Assembly of God churches, so it can be difficult for someone of the LGBT community to be “accepted” or taken seriously as a Christian. I have had so many positive experiences attending these types of churches, which makes me want to go back. What makes anyone think that their life is “cleaner” than my own? We’re all messy - we have our own little issues to deal with, but isn’t that how God made us? Or is it an intentional evil choice to be sinful? That depends I guess. What makes a divorcee with her ex-spouse still living, less sinful than the happily married homosexual sitting next to her? What makes a perceptual liar any less sin...

The Angry Little Gay Man---Nelson Garcia From "NG Blog"

Image
What is anger? It’s a negative emotion stemming from something. That “something” may not have anything to do with the subject that the anger spilled upon. The blogger who goes by the initials, “NG”, Nelson Garcia, is angry. He’s infuriated …but by what? He was angry well before he got upset with me for my opinions. I’ve looked into the archives of his blog and sifted through posts about attorneys, losing cases, exploiting politicians caught in sexual acts, as well as bashing other bloggers for having strong opinions…like he does. He stated, “And she has the unmitigated gall to tell me I need God in my life. If anything, honey, you are exactly why I don't need God in my life.If ever there was a more exemplary case of why it is I'm disdainful towards the christian gay community, this be it.Dare I say (or write) again.. I won't be at all surprised to read one day that Debra Pasquella has gone ex-gay. In fact, the sooner she does, the better the gay community as a whole will ...
