My New Favorite Place: Greenport, NY

Image
I'm back! Not sure if I'm relaxed or more amped to go traveling again, but our trip was extremely peaceful and very much needed. We stayed over at Greenport, NY in the North Fork by the Hamptons. I've stayed numerous times at the Hamptons which was absolutely gorgeous, but I had more fun in Greenport just because of the energetic 'vibe' itself. It has tons of wineries and farm markets, not to mention fun little shops, restaurants on the harbor -- anything you could ask for was here. I like a town to be a bit on the fun side with time to wind down in a house right on the ocean. We stayed on the bay area which I have never done before, except for Provincetown, MA. We even found ourselves accidentally on the set of HBO's "Girls". Madelene said, "Oh look, they're having some kind of buffet here." I looked around, there were camera crews and equipment all over. "No, Mad. That's for the cast and their crew." Anyway, we trekked o...

Introspective Getaway

And so I'm back. I've been back for quite some time but just haven't been able to write much. Vacation was very relaxing and peaceful. Although some days were cold and windy, we managed to seek out some great restaurants on the sea and enjoy the views, as well as the fresh seafood. Every time I visit Provincetown, I think of my dad. He was a fisherman and spent years at his fish market over at the South Street Seaport. He taught me everything about seafood - how to filet it, shuck it, clean it, cook it - you name it. Each year I would come home with a sea-related trinket or souvenir of sorts. He loved it. This year was bittersweet, because we went to Provincetown to rest our minds and get ourselves in a different atmosphere. We wanted it to be a time to heal in a different location, and being by the ocean always sets my mood in a calm state of mind, but somehow it rattled my heartstrings a bit with all the strange reminders. While I was in a touristy t-shirt/novelty shop,...

Just a note to let you all know I’ll be away this week (from my blog) so my wife and I can enjoy our anniversary week. We got married on October 11th, and will be celebrating all week long. We’re taking a staycation, roaming around, doing everything and nothing at all. Of course I will be uploading photos here and there on my Twitter account. Enjoy your week! I’ll be back Wednesday, October 19th. Time to relax, unwind and enjoy this beautiful fall weather. For more of Deb's articles, please visit: www.debrapasquella.com

Taking a week long "staycation" with Madelene. We haven't had time off in almost a year now. I'll be back blogging on a regular basis on the 18th or so. I may quite possibly post something random on here, if we see something interesting or perhaps, a funny home video. Enjoy this gorgeous weather & I'll miss you all!

As If It Were Yesterday

Image
It’s amazing how time flies up into a whirlwind of ‘remember whens’. There are so many ‘it feels like yesterday’ moments and times you’ve had where you’ve completely forgotten it, leaving you with thoughts and memories that haven’t been tapped into for some time. It’s odd to trek into the archive files of your mind to discover things that seem new when they are actually deep within the past. This morning at around 6am, Madelene and I were snuggling in our bed listening to the rainstorm, wishing it was Sunday morning. We started reminiscing... Mornings like these remind us of waking up in Montauk, listening to the waves crash besides the beach house. The entire ground rumbled as each wave made its way onto shore. It was like the ocean’s heartbeat. I remember the first time I had brought my parents over to the house for a vacation. They hadn’t been on a vacation for over 15 years. It was time. To see the look on my father’s face when we arrived to the house was one of the b...

Detour to the Hamptons

Although I was planning to head off to Provincetown, MA to work on my second book, and of course relax, I took a little detour. I put some clips together of my vacation so you can see how beautiful it really is over there. Here are some photos I took below. Whenever I see something that calms me, I take pictures. The last picture just reminded me of the hectic place I'd be returning to.

I’ll be away until June 21rst. As much as I’m going to miss you all, I plan to sink my feet in the sand and “not think”.
