Small Minds, Small World

For a few years, I've followed this person who goes by " Dartell " on Twitter and had some interesting conversations with her. She had insight, seemed intelligent and was very friendly. She's a black woman in her early 30's I'm guessing with extensive political views. But lately, her political views have taken a turn into the dark side. At first, I thought she was just retweeting a few borderline racist posts. Ok, she hates Obama - which is fine, but accusing him of being Muslim and sending billions of dollars to terrorists seems a bit much. She is highly against Islam. In one post, she added a photo of a man holding a knife to his neck and states, "Muslim threatens to slice his neck. Hell WTH is he waiting for...ISLAM IS A CULT. )0v0(." Another tweet includes this: "Islam's War on Women. Egyptian Islamist Imam Says Tahrir Female Protesters are “Crusaders” Who 'Want to be Raped'." Other tweets involve incidents that include Is...

Coexisting

For years now, I've been arguing with "judgmental Christians" who mostly have a narrow view of the world and society. It became my mission to "correct" them -- as well as to protect those who were confused, belittled and hurt by these so called loving Christians. I still try to protect those who are hurt by religious and judgmental people, but there's more to it. There's the understanding of other people's "religious truth". The fact that religion in itself, spirituality in itself, has no scientific evidence, which is ironic that they call it "truth". I guess it's to make a much more persuasive impact on mind control, or perhaps brainwashing. Although my faith (my truth) cannot budge due to someone else trying to convince me otherwise, I no longer try to convince people to ~walk this way~.  God gave us all a choice. It's not up to me to point to whichever direction, because who knows, maybe my direction isn't the bes...

Thoughts on Building a Mosque Near Ground Zero

Image
Have you ever caught yourself reading numerous debates and articles about a particular controversial subject, and little by little, found yourself understanding the other side a bit more, perhaps being even more tolerant to what you were initially against? The plan to build a mosque near the World Trade Center site have people arguing and debating to the point of where some of their arguments are completely irrational in my opinion. Most argue from their hearts, and not their heads. For instance, I found myself tangled up in long heated threads of facebook accounts on this particular matter. My two cents always insisted that they shouldn’t build the mosque near the World Trade Center site, because it’s a slap in the face for the families who have had a loved one killed in that tragic event. There was no changing my mind and the thought of a mosque being built near ground zero just angered me. But what angered me the most, was the thought of bin Laden gloating over it, or terrorists ce...

Predetermined Destiny With Hypocrisy?

The best effective way to get a message across, is to be compassionate, patient and understanding of whatever response you’ll receive in return. When speaking about religious matters, people have to realize that religion is based on “faith”- not fact. For instance, if I was trying to feed a baby that mushy banana food, and he didn’t like it, I can’t cram the food down the baby’s throat. He’ll simply close his mouth and cry. The best way is to find a different approach. Maybe he’ll like the peach stuff better. Force-feeding anyone will result in a negative outcome. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Dani and Mark , who profess to be Christians, feed their fellow believers with profanity if we don’t fully accept what we’re hearing from them. Think about those movies, like The Exorcist , and other flicks that portray the devil. At first, the devil will give you the most intellectual conversation. He makes sense at first. He comes as an angel of light. (Or, he come...
