Living Proof

As Obama enforces tighter gun control, there are so many people panicking over this. Although I do believe the right to bear arms, for sportsmanship, hunters and of course, protecting your home, I don't see the logic in owning assault weapons typically used in the military. But there's a much larger picture here: fear. It's not even the mainstream type of fear -- fear of burglary, intruders or even an animal attack --- this is fear of catastrophic events. As we all sit and wait for the big zombie apocalypse, this even goes beyond that. After Hurricane Sandy, the lack of gas, water, supplies, etc., I was surprised over the behavior of many who were willing to throw fists at the next person on line for gas. Gas meant electricity, hot water and means of transportation for many people. It meant "life". Eeny meeny miny mo... It's that huge day where we all gather in some school or firehouse to elect which candidate gets to be head honcho. You all know how on the fence I was about this entire ordeal and even though I know who I'm voting for, I still have so many questions. I have been reading every single site that explains why you should be voting for 'this candidate' or 'that candidate' and I have kept in mind that all sites have their political stances: left, right and in between. After looking at all the 'extremities'  --- I then head over to read what the middle man has to say about all of this, whether it's Obama or Romney. I'm finding out that I'm not the only one that was absolutely baffled over the choice. "Pick the lesser of the evils" is a horrible way to walk into voting polls. I used to LOVE walking into our voting place and feeling so confident and proud over the candidate that I was going to choose. Today? I fee...

As I watched the debates the other night, I was live tweeting, and most of all, reading the tweets of others. Twitter is great for "light" discussion, perhaps more of a comical view towards anything supposedly of a serious nature. Everyone wants to tweet the first joke or make funny comments regarding whatever. And most of it is actually pretty funny. On Facebook it's serious. You say anything derogatory about a certain candidate, and one of your family or friends or "acquaintances" will have you in a choke hold, finally deleting you from their friends list. Facebook is more dramatic that way. I don't care who you vote for, but after November 6th, all status messages and tweets are going to resume their chatter of booze, sports, pet photos, spiritual quotes and what you just had for dinner.
