When You Lose a Friend to a Relationship

Image
As we sipped our wine at my favorite restaurant, my friend and I started talking about life, friends, relationships and the brokenness that sometimes occur with all the above. We're not guaranteed a lifetime of friendship with anyone, nor relationship, marriages, and sadly, a family bond. Conflict parts us. Life itself parts us. And lastly, death certainly parts us.  While the saying goes, people come into your life for a season, a reason and for a lifetime, we'll never be sure which ones in our life falls into which category. Backtracking to what my sister stated the other day -- "We're all on borrowed time. There is no soul that we own. We can only share and bond with those people in the here and now, until it's time for them or us to go." It made sense. While we think our daughter, son, mother, father, sibling, or friend are "ours" --- they can leave you through choice or through death and there is nothing you can do to stop it. If you don't...

Volatile Relationships

A bowl of soup with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate. ~Proverbs 15:17 You don’t necessarily have to “like” the person you’re in an intimate relationship with. In fact, you might just love and hate them at the same time. The combination of both extremes saps all the positive ...

I Happened to "Stumble Upon"...

Image
Surfing the internet, I found this amazing little tool called, Stumble Upon . It goes right on your browser and lets you pick the topics you wish to surf. I picked 4: guitar techniques, photography, Christianity topics and relationships/psychology type of stuff. The photography that comes across this toolbar is absolutely the most amazing photos I have ever seen in my life. The articles aren’t all blogs, they’re mostly professional sites that are so well written and informative. I can’t stop. I’m addicted. Then I “stumbled upon”, this site . It talks about relationships and the laws of attraction. It also explains how relationships can take a turn for the worse---if you let it. The concept is, if you focus more on the negative attributes of your relationship, like ‘he/she chews too loudly, he/she doesn’t open the doors for me or he/she doesn’t clean up after themselves’ , then you’ll begin to dislike the person you’re with. If you find yourself arguing with somebody you’re romantically...
