Glass Half Full

There was a howl to the wind yesterday morning, almost like screaming a message while tears of raindrops stream down my windows. I heard sirens going off every ten minutes or so, indicating that perhaps a tree had fallen down or an accident happened somewhere. I thought at some point during the day, the electric will finally let up and I would be left with a candle, a battery powered laptop with no internet connection and the sounds of mother nature giving me her wrath. On top of everything else, while I was working, the rain had somehow managed to make its way in from the skylights, dripping slowly onto the side of the leather sofa. I had to place a huge pot underneath, which gave me a tempo of rhythm that somehow was driving me to the brink of insanity. “Plink, plink, plink, plinkity-plink, plink, plink.” The classical background music didn’t help much at this point. It just made it more “dramatic” if anything. I had planned on doing a promo video for a local gallery nearby, but wi...

Tornado Warning

Sorry I haven't been blogging much, but to keep this website a bit more active, I'm throwing some videos up as I go. I will be back to my normal schedule next week. Sorry for the lack of visits and I will be back in full force soon! This is a video I made when there was a tornado warning in my area a couple of weeks ago. I had my new toy (video camera) and it is a bit shaky, but I'm getting the hang of it. Check out the rainbow after the storm on this video. I shot this right right outside of my deck and through a couple of windows. (The window part I was just too damn scared to go outside!)

The Rain...

It’s one of my favorite kind of days: rainy, dark and dismal. It sounds negative, but the comfort behind this storm gives me relief, tranquility and calmness. I woke up to the sounds of pitter-pattering outside my window while lying in bed under my covers, creating a collaboration of Godsend music to my ears. There are some people who hate the rain. I, on the other hand love it. It reminds me of times when I was a child. My mom was a homemaker who took care of me and always kept me company, since I was 7 years younger from the next sibling up. We would play games and my mother would spend endless hours playing mindless make believe games with me. Sometimes, she would take me out in the rain to this Polynesian restaurant and order the pu pu platter. It’s a platter full of meat and fish appetizers with a fire in the middle of it. How I loved watching the different array of colors flicker from the flame. The rain also reminds of many good times spent with my partner. We would run through ...

Rain

Today it feels like spring. I woke up to the sounds of rain tapping on my windowsill. I miss that sound. My bedroom was dark, the shades were pulled all the way down, and a dim light from the overcast sky sneaked its way in. I was tucked away under my goose down comforter thinking about similar mornings like these. Madelene would be sleeping soundly with her little satin eyeshades. I’d wake her up by tickling her nose with a light cloth or a tissue and she would think it was just an itch. She’d scratch it, wiggle her nose and then she would fall back into a deep slumber. I’d tickler her again, but this time, I’d tickle the soft part of her lips. She’d squish and rub her lips and then fall right back to sleep. I would relentlessly do this until she would wake up and laugh at me. I wanted to spend the morning with her, but at the same time, I wanted her to rest. It was a toss up. I guess the feelings of nostalgia hit me hard this morning. It was nice to hear Madelene’s voice over the ph...
