Living Proof

Your children are a  product of your beliefs. Sometimes, when I defend the LGBT community from religious "stones" being thrown at them, I get, 'well why bother' or 'who cares' and of course, 'it's a battle you'll never win with those kind of people'. In a sense, it's kind of true. You will never win a battle or convince anyone otherwise of changing their core beliefs. But what about having our LGBT youth have someone or an organization that does say the opposite of what these ill informed religious people spew off? Whenever a celebrity like when Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty comes out with their rigid thoughts on homosexuality, I speak my mind. I will always speak my mind and retort when a misinterpreted scripture is used to literally bash gays and lesbians with feelings of guilt, condemnation, insults, demeaning terms used for young ladies, as Phil Robertson demonstrated.  Words that only tear down and destroy spirits is blamed on...

There is a big difference between "like" and "agree". For instance, I had a woman on my Facebook account write a quote from Rick Warren that stated, "Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone's lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don't have to compromise convictions to be compassionate."  This is just like saying, if you "disagree" with blacks intermarrying with whites. It's not a matter of "agreeing" --- if you don't like something --- don't pipe in on what others prefer to do or how they want to live. It's none of your business to agree or not to agree. You can dislike it all you want. But what about disliking the Kardasian's wedding, Tiger Woods or Newt Gringrich's lifestyle? Just because all were straight - then yes - they're all accep...

Anger motivates many people to do "missions" that are supposedly inspired “by God”. They use the name of God in order to tear down or destroy anyone that may be doing something of their disinterest. Why would any religious person, regardless of their denomination, obsess and focus so much on homosexuality? I’m speaking about those who ridicule gay and lesbian lifestyles to the point of cursing them, and in some unfortunate cases, killing them. I totally believe that what we “hate” has something to do within “us”. So, when someone hates you for being gay, lesbian or transgender, maybe they’re having a sexual orientation and identity crises of their own? That fact remains, when people fear the thought of who they “may” be, is usually generated by anger and obsessiveness, in fear of discovering that they may share something in common. I distinctly remember a friend of mine who was married with kids, went to church like clockwork, who also happened to disagree with my lifestyle. ...

When I first started this blog, much of the content was based on my belief as a Christian that homosexuality is not a sin and the scriptures that referred to homosexuality was purely based upon promiscuity and lust, just as premarital heterosexual sex is just the same. I had debated with a few fundamentalist protesting Christians who basically told me I was going to hell and that I was mocking God by calling myself a Christian. Long story short, I was tired of defending myself, because I know in my heart that God loves me, God loves all of the LGBT people that love Him. It’s not a matter of “sin” in this case, because love is love. This morning, I went into my comment section from my last blog post and saw that someone under “anonymous”, signed “Wayne”, had written quite a lengthy blurb to tell me what “truth” really is regarding homosexuality. The other day when I had posted my little video to preview a tiny clip from my documentary, I had a few emails along with some commentary on my Youtube account. Some were asking to create the music for my project, while others were simply going on about how wrong homosexuality is. Luckily I received more positive and supportive feedback than anything, but that isn’t the point. I had posted an a little ad over at Blogcatalog, a site for bloggers to share their thoughts, their websites and to find more exposure. There is a section on their message boards where you can talk about general things. I thought it may have been a good idea to see if anyone was interested in doing a 15 minute interview for my film. Some of the responses were supportive and others, well, let’s just say they wanted more of a debate, rather than seeing this as an all inclusive event.
