Please Won't You Be...My Neighbor?

It’s been a crazy week full of events. I haven’t been blogging much, however, there was one event I had to share with the rest of the world. As I have posted many times, my father is not so close with his neighbors. They irritate him…errr…or….he irritates them. Who knows. Anyway, Sunday morning, while we were all hungover, trying to recoup from Saturday’s party at my friend's house…I heard a sound coming from the backyard. Little recap of what’s been happening around the neighborhood... Our house has this amazing view of the mountains and lake nearby. The trees that are surrounding my neighbor’s house is obstructing our view. Now, the trees are on ‘our’ side, so my father asked them politely (I think) to trim them, or remove them. They never responded—or responded fast enough. Dad always went on and on about this; threatening them till the very end.

"If dey' don't trim their God damn trees, den' I'm gonna do dis' my way!"

My dad took it into his own hands. In this footage below, is my father trekking down our lawn, over to the neighbor’s yard to tear down these trees that are in the way of our view. Funny thing is, after he removed them, he didn’t realize that there were many trees down below the valley that is obstructing the view as well. His luck! Please turn up your sound to hear the appropriate song that goes with this. I have to thank Amy for taking this footage and placing the song that goes with it!

The guy that comes walking up behind my dad is his little 'watch out' in case something should go wrong. He looks a little nervous though, doesn't he?

Deb- This is just what I needed to get my day started!!! That was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time- not to mention it looks like something my dad would do too!

God bless your daddy. I'd love to meet him.

I told him, whatever he does, I'm gonna take pictures and videos now...just so he starts behaving himself!!! He's nuts! But I wouldn't have him any other way. This is just proof of his ...ummm... sanity level. ;)

Time to take my meds now!

A perfect song for such a "neighborly" assistance. Great catch on the "lookout"

I love Mr. ~deb'sdad!!! He is so awesome! Please you have to video him LOTS more for our entertainment!

What a hoot! I agree with big mama-get him on tape! How about an interview with him? We could submit questions to you to ask him. Thanks for sharing!

Oh. My. Gawd. That is freakin' hilarious. Only your father takes the backhoe down to do a job like that. And the "enforcer". Like anyone is gonna mess with your dad while he's sitting on a piece of machinery. Crackin' me up.

So when is the trip down the valley planned to wipe out those trees?

LMAO!! Ohhh boyy!! Those machines always scared me, something about the claw on the end. They remind me of dinosaurs...skeery stuff.

Your father is awesome =) The song is sooo funny!

A piece of me died when Mr. Rogers passed on. He would have loved this neighbourly act of love and, I am certain, shared it with all the boys and girls in his neigbourhood.

Please do an interview with your dad! Please. Maybe his buddy can chime in with your dad. I would love to see it.

Now I understand bears in the yard. I was thinking of the 40 x 100 properties in the 'burbs, not the beautiful place you call home.

pssst - everyone! - party at ~deb's dads house - soon!

That was great. Think he might've gone after the neighbors themselves with that thing? (Only if absolutely necessary, of course.)

~Deb said...

Yes, plenty of parties at this house. I give him excitement with the gay & lesbian get togethers---and he gives me excitement with all his awful encounters with the neighbors! So it's a give and take.

You know something Jali? My friend and I were just thinking about doing that---interviewing him. But...I can't put his real identity on my blog, yet, I can record him, as I film something else regarding his stories... I'm working on that! He's excited to do something like that too. So, we'll get all his views on everything.

And as far as his "neighborly acts" in the neighborhood for the children to see----believe me, the children love my dad. These neighbors we have next door have dogs that bark from morning till noon and run a LOUD generator for hours upon hours. We never say anything.

Then, the trees that were obstructing the view, are on our property. There are laws that require people to do maintenance on their own trees. They never did. So my father politely asked them to trim the trees that were on 'our' property; which of course, they thought were theirs...and never did.

So?

My father did it himself...in quite the amusing way.

It's quite comical over here. Just sit back, have a beer, and watch the neighbors and my father battle it out.

That is hilarious...and the music...I was rolling about laughing. Ahhh you live in a sitcom, just like me.

O.K. ~deb you know we wouldn't put you under pressure, but I have been thinking about this all day. I think you should put up a poll of different subjects your pops would be more than happy to discuss and have your fans pick their favorite one. That way pops gets his air time, we get some "fuggedaboudit" and you have a great post. See, everyone wins. O.K. I'll stop now, I just am so intrigued by your pops... Still love you though!

LOL that was too funny!
I wanna get me a ride like dat!
Your mountains look just like our PA mountains... I guess that's a big duh huh?

~Deb said...

Natalia: Definitely a sitcom!

Big Mama: What a good idea! Anybody up for voting on what topic to choose from is fine with me. And----fine for my pops. Believe me, he's not shy.

Romey: It does. We overlook three neighboring towns nearby, yet we are right outside of Manhattan, so we get the best of both worlds.

Tai said...

WOW!

I'm sure glad MY dad doesn't have one of those things...he'd probably just take out the neighbour...never mind the trees!

kathi said...

OMG, that is too funny!! Hey, I could use a heavy piece of machinery like that... :)

~Deb said...

Tai: I think that was his goal...who knows! ;)

Kathi: What in the world would you use that for? Do I wanna know? *smirk*

your dad reminds me of my dad only my dad is not italian he is just crazy. At 16 years old my dad also went to jail and I had to bail him out the next morning. nothing starts a story better than "hey dad remember that time I bailed you out of jail". This always works when I need something. My dad is a religous man now but just yesterday he said he was going to kill that f***ing insurence agent if he didn't give us full value for our garage that burned down. Then directly after that he said "I need Xanax or I am going to kill the next F***ing person the walks down that f***ing street." He also just quit smoking at this point. I love my dad, he makes me look sane. I would love to be able to listen to your dads stories, he sounds interesting. Growing up I always wished I was italian so I could be in the mob, I not saying your dad is in the mob. I just always thought it would be cool.

~Deb said...

Ahckk! The smoking! My dad smokes like three packs of cigarettes per day---and has emphysema! On top of that, it's so hard to talk to him in his 'smoking room', that you nearly pass out due to the lack of oxygen.

Bigdaddy---your dad and my dad seem related, huh? Maybe you are Italian after all!

I think it's funny that this is him "behaving" because the camera is on. What would he have done if it wasn't?

It's me said...

Komatsus rule. Did he rent it or is it his? I have no need for a big piece of machinery like that at the moment, but if I ever move out of the city. I'll going to buy some piece of equipment that will move lots of dirt. Very cool post.

Thanks Deborah!

MQM & John: You have no idea, he's hysterical and would have LOVED to know he was being filmed.

d shark: He owns some of his machines and finances the rest...he has an excavation business.
